2025 Lib Dems Autumn Conference
LDO Chair, Terence Champion and LDO Honorary President, George Cunningham, attended the 2025 Lib Dems autumn conference in Bournemouth.
George organised and spoke at the fringe event: "Modern Warfare: Lessons from Ukraine's War against Russia's Aggression" as well as joining the debate at conference on Hong Kong (with a message from Hong Kong resident and LDO Member "Christopher") and with a speech in support of Afghan Women's Rights. Both speeches can be found below.
George Cunningham, Honorary President writes, “Taking until 2035 for the UK and NATO to get up to speed to deter Russian aggression is fanciful. What must be done in the next 2-3 years? My message during a fringe panel at the Lib Dem autumn conference - alongside Helen Maguire MP, Richard Foord MP and The Times correspondent Edward Lucas - was, rather than spending on distant expensive armaments programmes that may never come to pass, the UK should prioritise the immediate, fixing what we have and what can be done relatively quickly:"
