Virtual Pub chats

We’re excited to launch a series of regional Virtual Pub Chat across the world for Lib Dems Overseas members. The virtual pub chat is an open ended, free-flowing forum for members to discuss politics and current affairs. Since its inception in North America earlier in 2020, it has gone from strength-to-strength with members from across the US, Canada and the Caribbean participating on a monthly basis making it a can’t miss fixture on the North America branch calendar.

How it Works

Members meet informally to debate a broad range of political topics and everyone is encouraged to bring their BYOB(everage). There’s no set agenda with the discussion going to whichever topics members are most interested at the time. Past topics in the North America Virtual Pub Chat include the state of US and Canadian politics, the UK government’s handling of Coronavirus pandemic, liberalism in the 21st Century and sustainable development.

Please join the most convenient pub chat to hang out with fellow UK Lib Dem friends. To attend please out to the relevant point of contact below:

Autumn Conference Special

In addition to the three regional events, we will be holding our inaugural virtual pub chat special during the first online Lib Dem autumn conference (September 25th to September 28th, 2020). This special virtual pub chat will give Lib Dem Overseas members a chance to catch-up on issues and policies discussed during the conference thus far.

We encourage members to join us for this special pub chat on Sunday 27th September 14:00hrs BST as well as the preceding Lib Dem Overseas’s own fringe event ‘Frozen Pensions to Lost Pensions’ at 13:00hrs BST the same afternoon. Sign-up details for the conference virtual pub chat will follow shortly.

You can sign-up to the online Autumn Conference here.

Apologies if your region is not represented yet:

We have had some feedback that there is no specific event for Middle East or Africa. We hope to address this in future as we build up our membership coordinators in those regions. Please do join the Autumn Conference event if you live in these regions.
